Two monasteries of the Serbian Orthodox Church near Vranje are registered in the Register of Prosumers of Elektrodistribucija Srbije. Both monasteries have installed 10 kW solar power plants.
As of 15 March 2023, the total number of power plants that use renewable energy sources and are connected to the network of the Elektrodistribucija Srbije is 378.
There is great interest in connecting to the prosumer network. However, there is an overload of distribution system operators and currently the number of pending requests has reached a total capacity of 2 GW. That is why, according to the proposal of Elektrodistribucija Srbije, a power limit for consumers was included in the draft proposal of the Law on Use of Renewable Energy Sources, namely:
- for legal entities 150 kW;
- for households 6.9 kW.
The Ministry of Mining and Energy plans to ease this provision before the draft is put to a vote in the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.
