Two years have passed since the Law on the Use of Renewable Energy Sources was passed, and yet little progress has been made. In order for the law to be applied in practice, amendments and several by-laws were adopted. Recently, the first auctions were announced for 50 megawatts of solar and 400 megawatts of wind power plants.
The Association of Renewable Energy Sources of Serbia estimates that in accordance with the current situation, we can expect Serbia to get 450 new power plants powered by renewable sources in the next 4 to 5 years. We can also expect investment in infrastructure, that is, in the transmission and distribution system of electricity, as well as in balancing and storage.
After adopting the Initial Basis of the Development Plan for Energy Infrastructure and Energy Efficiency Measures for the Period until 2028 with Projections until 2030 on 30 June 2023, the Government has the task of adopting the Integrated National Plan for Climate and Energy with defined goals for 2030 in this field by the end of the year.
Serbia has great potential for the development of electricity production from biomass, water resources, as well as wind and solar.
