In November 2021 the Government of Serbia adopted a new regulation on incentives for wind farms. This decision is in line with state’s policy to increase the use of energy from renewables and create a competitive market for the production of electricity from such sources.
The Government also announced that auctions will be conducted for granting the right to incentives to the power plants that use renewable energy sources.
The right to participate in the auction have power plants with approved power over 500kW, wind power plants of approved power over 3MW, as well as demonstration projects. The Government has for now set a quota for incentives for wind farms.
However, due to the fact that the decree on balance responsibility and criteria for determining the liquidity of the intraday market has not been adopted the Government has not been able to conduct the auctions just yet. The decree has been drafted, nevertheless the key players have to agree on it – Public Power Company EPS, Public Electricity Network EMS and investors.
As the portal Balkan Green Energy News reports, the Ministry of Mining and Energy plans to announce auctions in the third quarter for incentives for the construction of renewable energy power plants.
