Serbia is working on a new Law on Information Security in order to better protect the data of citizens and businesses. Changes to the law are necessary due to the new European Union directives in this area, and the deadline for harmonization is October 2024.
In the process of accession to the European Union, Serbia is obliged to follow the trends in the field of information security and harmonize its regulations with positive EU laws and directives. The European Union has improved its regulatory framework in this area, and new directives have been adopted: the NIS2 Directive and the EU Cybersecurity Act.
Two public hearings on the draft law are planned, one Belgrade on August 18 and another one Kragujevac on August 21.
